Never had them before, but I recently got tints on my black X-Type - light smoke on fronts and dark smoke on rears and back window, after being offered a good price. I would avoid the limo black style.
I am very pleased with the look as suits black cars best IMO and also help reduce UV on the interiror and stop glass breaking in accidents of during theft supposedly...
Havn't had a problem with seeing out of them so far, but got them quite cheap so wasn't too worried and been quoted only £30 to remove them all, so wouldn't bother removing them yourself like Sean did
Should suit a black new shape Type-R quite well, but I may be in the minority!

Where did you have them done fella? I am very pleased with the look as suits black cars best IMO and also help reduce UV on the interiror and stop glass breaking in accidents of during theft supposedly...

Would you recommend them?
Cheers!
Maybe check regarding the removal price with whoever you choose - the £30 was for removal on top of renewing the tints...maybe it will cost more ~ £100?
Also heard ammonia spray will take off the residue easily or just use a portable clothes steamer...luckily I like mine, so doesn't matter

iv never had them before until i got the volvo and am really pleased with them not sure on what darkness they are all i know is you cant see into them but can see out the only problem iv found is reversing in the dark can be a little awarkward have to rely on your mirrors more than anything
I saw an orange ST being pulled by an unmarked Volvo for tints on the front side windows. Worth remembering that the FRONT side windows have to allow 70% light through which is a standard tint so anything more and you're asking for it.
I had tints on the side windows of my imported Corvette and they were plain dangerous but soon stripped off. I used a sharp Stanley blade edge to remove the glue.
The rears are a matter of taste - just watch for the electrical contacts on the HRW not being damaged. My own view is it is sometimes an invitation for the Police to stop you if they can't see the driver and it's a hot hatch.
