it'd be nice to know before i use it next, but as that'll be about 5pm tomorrow im guessing i'll just have to go prepared! There is nothing worse that queing for the toll booths watching people scooting through the baskets in seconds. Im sure they take paper money too, they definately give change

I'm pretty sure they do take £2 coins. I used the coin bins recently and a lot of mine then was loose change.

They don't take cards though and any notes have to go to a manned toll.

Yes, and it gives a receipt if you didn't already know it.

cheers, took my £2 coins lovely jubbly, and with a chirrup of the front tyres i happily overtook all the speeders who flew past me in the 50mph zone before the booths

One thing I love about commuting over the bridge is the grand prix start every time the barrier goes up!

Hang on - they are talking now, 10 days before the event, about implementing a temporary solution?! FFS!

Aye, I have absolutely no problem with this apart from the obvious people will milk it but they sign a chitty for it. This will be the same, as I read the the report, as using a credit card. When someone used the disabled badge it takes a while. No problem ordinarily, but imagine everyone turning up ready to use plastic. There are a lot of hotels over the water doing business for this.

Actually, no you don't sign a chitty anymore. You simply hand the card to the attendant and they scan the serial number. I don't believe its any longer than giving a note and awaiting the change. I would imagine though that the credit / debit card option will take somewhat longer. I believe it should be an option though I can remember on one occasion many years ago that I was approaching the bridge and realised I had no cash on me, so I turned on to the M5 and headed for the services in Avonmouth for a cash point. Not only was it out of my way but the only cash point at the services charged for a withdrawal. I was well pi$$ed off
