A T-Bone steak from Saddlers Butchers in Penarth and cook it yourself. Nothing in a restaurant comes close.

I think the steaks in either the Braz or Le Monde take some beating.

I think its closure was more to do with a massive rent hike.

Also the one upstairs, can't remember the name now but you were always served by a guy who looked like a 1960/70's pornstar. Lovely guy, used to know his name but we are talking around 10-12 years ago. Grey swept back hair, loads of gold, big porn 'tash, must've weighed in at around 8 st !! He was a legend.

Other than that, if you fancy a drive I've never had a bigger steak than at The Royal in Usk. lick

Also try the 10oz Ribeye with either bearnaise sause or cracked black pepper sauce at The Bell on the old Bulmore Rd in Caerleon. (100yds from my front door and frequented at least 3 times a month !! )

Most places to eat in Cardiff are hit and miss IMHO. A lot of flash then poorly trained staff or bad food standards. A lot new places open up and are quite nice for a few weeks. If you find a nice place and become a regular they take the piss and start lowering the standard. familiarity brings contemp and all that!
