Posted this in the volvo section a week or so ago and got no respons so thought id post it here to never know

Posting this really as im not sure what to do with my 850 t5
I want to know if there is enough interest out there for parts to warrent me breaking it as there are already some many beening broken atm. My other option is to sell it as spares or repaire as the syncros in the gearbox have gone and play in the steeing rack was brought up on advisory at last mot.
If there is enough interest i will break for parts

Cally - You could always advertise it on the PH classifieds as it is with a note on what works/doesn't work, but i'd also give it a go on ebay. You may find a few interested parties willing to buy it all so they can split it for parts. Maybe an option if you haven't the time or space to do the splitting yourself.

yea i know that but whats going through my head is i could only sell lets say one part i.e. turbo, then have the rest sitting around for years as no one is interested in them and couldnt then sell as a whole as it would be a non runner.
so thinking more now best sell as spares or repaire to get it out of the way

If you decide to sell the car, let me know the price and I'll ask one of my colleagues if they're interested.

Im looking £300 for it
Still has tax and mot till end of march and is driveable.
I need to take a few of the mods off it before it goes though but these will be replaced with standard equipment and car will be complete

Sorry Cally, they said "thanks, but no thanks". One of them said he'd be interested if it was an 'R'.

I broke an MG ZR for parts, and made a decent bit of wedge.

HOWEVER it was such hassle. It was over 4 months ago and Im still dealing with muppets that but down a small deposit on parts, never to hear a word and now they want the parts / deposit back.
Also, even at the time the amount of people that would make arrangments only to let me down was shocking!

I recently bought and MR2 and then a GTi6 both of them had bottom end failure (just my luck) and even though I probably could have made some money back I chose to sell them as a whole car, purely because I dont think the hassle is worth it unless you really need the money.

I'd sell the whole car as spares or repairs through a Volvo owners club / Pistonheads / Ebay.

OR strip the car and keep mainly the big items (engine/gearbox/calipers) etc. Thats where the money is. I had people asking for heater knobs, gearknob, even sun visors. These aren't worth the hassle to be honest.

Im glad he's getting to grips with it, I have a feeling it won't last as long as he hopes though!

totally disagree

yes there is big money in the big items

but if you have lots of smaller ones they can add up too.
30 items at £20 average each is £600.

sounds like your choosing the wrong cars maybe ?
ive broken 3 x e36's and threw away lots of the small items on the 1st one, i didnt on the other 2 though and made LOTS of profit.

Each to there own but I couldn't deal with the hassle of several e-mails, weighing, wrapping and then arrange a delivery for a set of sun visors/gearknobs/dials/mirror switches etc.

I dont have the time or space to have tens of parts lying around either.
