Hi all, haven't posted in this section for ages but need some local advice.

I've got a w210 E Class, the ones which rust a lot. Just come back from a local bodyshop and got quote a price which made my eyes water - £390+vat for 4 arches, leading edge of both front wings and the bottom of one rear quarter and a small bubble on the door nearest that bubble.

Very expensive i thought.

I'm in Crosshands and i'm happy to travel as far as Swansea but don't really want to go all the way up to Bridgend so if anyone knows of a good bodyshop locally please let me know.

Thanks.

TBH Nic, if they are quoting for a proper repair (not just fill & tart), then I'd rip their arm off!
Sounds extremely cheap for a good job.
Sorry, Al.

And thats the general feedback that i'm getting, i'm going to try and get a couple of other quotes to compare with anyway, just at this point you wonder how much a full respray would be.

Try ID Auto's at Pontarddulais. 01792 883115.

Don't know if he can beat your quote, but Ian's always done a great job for me.

Unfortunately, the price of good quality work isn't dependant on the value of a car. It costs the same to repaint a 308 Ferrari as it does to paint an MGB if you see what I'm getting atthumbup (& absolutely no offence intended either to MGB's nor your own car - but labour cost is labour cost & materials cost what materials costs irrespective of make & model). Either a job is done right or it isn't & correct repairs cost a helluva lot more than flashing a bit of paint over something.

If you can travel to Ystradgynlais I can highly recommend a general repairer there (but cheap he is not).

Best wishes, Al.

I had my mx5 painted by Ian about 7 years ago (back when he had his yellow 911 in an air bubble in the garage), very poor job, overspray on the roof, paint flaking on both front arches and a big bit of much sprayed over on the rear bumper. I've seen him do some great work but i'd doubt i'd take another car there again.

Who's your man in Ystradgynlais? I'd rather spend money where there is a recommendation.

Just looked through your profile and website Al, i think i can trust your judgement of who does good work! Could be handy as i need my mk1 Golf GTi restored, it's gone a bit tatty now but still has a lot of sentimental value!

I've seen some rather poor work from there too and certainly wouldn't recommend going there. Although that doesn't really solve your problem. biggrin

I can vouch for Als work and any recommendations will only be the best.
