On Sunday the 22nd of February, me, my mate matt and another PHer (Antonio 82, but not yet 100% confirmed!) are going to be driving this route:

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr=Pontyp...

would like to see if other people would like to join us. good day around some fun roads, stop off at a pub somewhere for a drink and some lunch.

I was thinking a start around 9am, not too early, not too late. Not sure about a meeting point yet, maybe somewhere in Newport? or if people want to make it easy we could meet at the university of glamorgan biggrin

cars fast or slow (i will be a slow car....a 27 year old bmw to be precise). still...flooring it on some mountain roads with fellow PHers sounds good to me!!

thanks for any interest, the more the merrier i guess!!
someone please suggest an ideal meet point!! i don't know newport at all, so a place with address/post code like pub or something would be perfect!!
cheers!

anyone interested add your name to the list:

1 - Ross - BMW E21 316
2 - Matt Mercedes 190e 2.0

186miles...decent speeds, probably not, I only get 180miles out of a tank normal driving, maybe if you did something like this I would be up for it
chepstow, monmouth old road, aber, blaenavon, brynmawr, crumlin, havaguiness, pontyool, new inn, up to the reservoir, stop of at the reservoir for some pictures, then onto the pub around the corner, back down through the lanes, towards usk, usk road, to caerleon, from there on to?

well, will see what the interest is and can sort something out. I've never been for a south wales hoon before so don't know the roads...just going by what was suggested, but if you think that's a good route then can't see why it should be a problem. Would rather go for a bit longer though, and surely there will be a nearby petrol station along the route smile

will see how things go. Cheers.

laugh that will be close to two tanks of fuel, there are some good routes. the route i have got there is a pretty good route.
The only issue I see with doing such a big route straight of the bat, is if something goes wrong you could be quite far away, no one really knows each other driving wise, so a smaller route first, for everyone to work out any kinks etc would be better
see what interest you get first smile

I'm in, I also know some very good routes that we can use if you want to do those instead of this one.

Abergavenny > Raglan > Chepstow > Monmouth > Raglan > Usk > Abergavenny

Thats is a very good route, love these roads.

I will be in a 316 as well so don't worry about bringing slow cars wink

Good man! ok your route sounds good...I would be up for that smile where should we meet? not sure how many people will be coming along, so far only 3-4 but we need to decide on a meeting point for us all? if you are proposing to start at abergavenny then would it be easiest to meet there somewhere? any idea where? have you got an address/post code to meet at? so i can find the place biggrin

i fear my 316 may be older than yours though hehe. it's slightly tuned so will keep up on the straights...but the corners maybe not so hehe.

cheers!!

I suggest meeting at the bus station, big open car park so easy to find each other. It is the location of the local 'crooozes' but hopefully we can avoid that...

Here is the postcode for Lanes garage (its pretty close to the bus station and closest thing I could find) NP7 8NL.

Mine is a E36 316i Compact, not the fastest thing in the world hehe its my DD but my CRX isn't road legal so can't take that frown

ETA: The CRX is my PH car biggrin

I get 180 miles per tank for my city commute to and from work; around 275 miles on the motorway FYI.

OK, I was just thinking, as alot of us seem to be from or around Cardiff/Newport, a 9am start from somewhere similar to the where the Breakfast Club was held would be a better starting point allowing us to then head up in convoy to Abergavenny. Those living closer to Abergavenny can then have a nice little lay in too smile

Also, remember the second Breakfast Club will be the first Sunday of February (assuming that will be the 1st Feb or maybe the 8th??), so maybe it could be used to discuss some issues and/or finalise routes and meeting places. The breakfast club routes are similar, if not a little shorter, so will give you a good feel of the run pace etc...

Hope that doesn't confuse everything too much!!

i saw the cars at the breakfast club and i would be waaaaaay slower...that BMW M3 cloud9
Still, ok on Feb the 1st I will turn up to the breakfast club meet for a run and there we can discuss a meeting place so i can post it back up on here. I agree Newport would probably be a more ideal meet point. what time does everyone get down there and where exactly is it?

cheers smile

edit: just seen it's about 9am at the old barn inn. I'll make sure i'm there!!

No, full size tank, just being 4wd and twin turbo, it only averages 16mpg can get it up to about 22 on the motorway. Most I have ever got was 255 miles out of a tank

Carbon whatsits??? whats them, then?? I do hope our 3.7l jeep, 4.4 V8 840 and 4litre Jag dont create these carbon things you speak off? See this is what I like, my car doesnt really fall into emission laws, yes its a 96 so its got to be tested, but its not on the system so gets put through as pre emission cars...If it did have to a proper emissions test, it would be parked up and never used due to lack of MOT, it will not pass emission test hehe

and yes, it is awfully fun, hoping to have the boost cranked up by then, with some bigger downpipes, might get parked up though, and look for a cheap run about

found it on sat nav! well, if we are meeting at about 9ish then i'm sure we should be at yours by 9.30 or 10 (depending where we meet and if we have breakfast first smile )

so......on the 1st of Feb I will turn up to the PH breakfast meet and there we can discuss meet point (though i think the old barn inn where they hold the breakfasts would be good, yeh? and talk about route...then we can swing by there and you can tag along with us? how does that sound?

who'd have thought this could have been so complicated biggrin

Ross.
