our local motorbike community have abergavenny on sunday mornings and is always packed. coffee, chat and rideouts.
i know we have a few run outs, and our new year eve run....
any ideas ?

I think it is an excellent idea Jon. The only problem seems to be getting the regulars to show an interest and turn up to these things. Just look at the NYE meet, we seem to be outnumbered by Scoobynet at the moment.

Having said that, there are a core of members that regularly meet for runs out or a meal. I guess these people may attend a breakfast meet on a regular basis which would be good. Start small and maybe more people will come along over time.

i think goodwood works because its a place of prestige and heritage. Llandow doesnt have the same appeal, im not sure i can think of anywhere local that does?

I think it's a great idea. What kind of format are you thinking i.e. once a month at the same venue.

Can't always make it out on the runs or the 'meet n eats' as they seam to clash with other stuff, but at least with a regular event you can plan ahead smile

I think this would be a good idea, i always wondered why PH didnt have a regular meet. Maybe a different venue each month would be good. It doesnt have to be that special i guess as long as the food is reasonablebiggrin

Brillant idea.
I attend events fairly regulary and would love a place to hook up, chat, coffee go for a spin, whatever really.
Let's not make too many comparisons to Goodwood as its not quite the same?! Llandow is a bit hit and miss for facilties but any transport cafe with a big car park will do, wont it?
1, Nobbies cafe, A48, Cowbridge Junction
2. Little chef, A470

I'm sure there is lots

so what we are looking at is starting with a couple of events early next year, if it proves successful then add more dates.
lets not stick to one venue, but change venue each time.
we need a cafe/burgervan/ice-cream van !!!!!
car parking for possibly 10 cars....maybe more.

suggestions welcome...

rhondda heritage park......cafe and car park.
aberavon beach front.

I think making them on a set date each month is a good idea, it means I can tell the girlfriend when i want some "me time" in advance. wink

you could try approaching abergavenny council, they have gate to close frogmore street off to traffic , you could prehaps park the cars in the closed off section for say 1-2 hours and have them on show, and then go into luigis italian for breakfast or a meal.
then theres the lamb and flag on the brecon road which has a very nice large car park, and they do food and drink.
there are now two good coffe shops in aber , with carparks to the rear in lion street, park the cars there and have coffe and food etc. you could just attatch yourselves to the bikers in the bus station which is already established , and the plus point there is that there is a new massive second car park open there now which is seperate to the biker section.

i dont know much about pontypool or cwmbran etc prehaps others have a better idea

Rest Bay car park, not sure if Malc's Cafe is open every weekend in the closed season though. The VW camper guys have the odd meet there IIRC.

See.........Plenty of suggestions

I propose 'we' all agree a set date each month then set about deciding on a different venue each month for the following year, allowing people to plan ahead etc
This will also enable all regions to have a local event plus giving the travelling regions an opportunity to convoy and give their motors a blast.

What date would be best? The last Sunday in every month?

Please add your suggestions to the list :-

1. Normans's Cafe, The Downs, Cowbridge Jnc of A48

Isn't that the Cafe that's normally over-run with bikers?

Be aware that there are some nasty speed humps in this car park

Malcs cafe in Rest Bay does not stay open all season (and you have to pay for parking IIRC)which is a shame as it is a lovely spot.
