following on from my previous rant http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

thismorning on the way to castle combe, there was thick thick vog, visibility down to 100 yards or less for several miles (mostly from the bridge all the way to combe) so why why why why why did less than 10% of drivers have their foglights on?????

I CANT BLOODY SEE YOU, IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

and instead of the roadsigns stating the obvious and saying "FOG", why dont they say "Turn on your Foglights" as a clue for the stupid people???????????

mad

The same idiots who dont use lights whatsoever in rain, or evening, but do use fog lights front and rear in daylight, who don't use indicators at junctions, and roundabouts so you have to guess what they are about to do.

Same plonkers who park on double yellows causing bottle necks, whilst they pop in the shop, and sit about 3 inches behind you in L3, where it is blatently bloody obvious you cant go any faster coz zillion of other cars are in front of you in L3 also. but it seems oblivious to them.

im guilty of not putting my lights on sometimes, not really my fault as my car has a high vis dash that lights up as soon as the ignition comes on. so if i havnt driven my car for a while, ill get in the dash will light up and ill assume i have mmy lights on

Ben front fogs are not an MOT requirement and are not included in some cars. I really hate when people leave them on. No sign will ever tell them to turn them off!!!

I don't know why manufacturers don't make the fog lights cancel with the ignition's next switched off. On the Focus, you can't turn the headlights off without turning off the fog lights.

Number of times I've used my fog lights in the 2 and a half years of ownership? Once.

my car doesnt have front foglights, but does have driving lights. jap import so didnt even have rear foglights when it was brought over. but i have a seperate switch for my driving lights. so when i switch what would be my fogs on, the sidelights front and rear also come on, without having to turn the sidelights on, on the stalk

if driving lights are fog lights, and my car comes from a country where they dont have fog lights then shirley they must be fogs? even though mine are classed as driving lights.
Fog lights-use when foggy
Driving lights-used for driving
I only use mine on the 449 on the way home, my headlights are piss poor and the more light the better. now waits for the they only point 3 foot ahead of the car and onto the floor brigade...no mine dont, mine light up the road a hell of a lot more than the headlights do

The fog was lingering above the road but I didn't find it impacted on my visability in the slightest. I could see for a good few hundred yards ahead. If the fog had been lower I would've put my fogs on. Perhaps it was worse at the time you travelled.

To be honest, I dont really get bothered with those plonkers who think front fogs look cool.....just as the same plonkers with zillions of watts booming out in their cars, (They will be suffering irreparable hearing damage anyway). but its those buggers who have the rear intensity lights on in broad daylight, really agrevates me, and especially at night when you can hardly see past them for all the candle power.

I get far more irritated by people who needlessly use their rear fogs in thin mist, people who put their fogs on in intermittent fog and seem incapable of turning them off and on again, as needed and people who think raer fogs ned to be deployed at night in driving rain, blinding anyone behind. Theoretically, if the fog is that thick, you shoukld be driving more slowly.... wink
