My Cayman got hit by a rock on the way to the 'Ring last week and now needs a new screen (no way its a repair job).

My insurers will cover the cost, subject to a £60 excess but insist I use either Autoglas or Auto Windscrens. I've just searched the Porsche forum and heard a lot of horror stories about them botching jobs.

Has anyone used one of them localy?

I used Autoglass a couple of months back when a stone hit the windscreen of the daily hack. The chap came out from the Cardiff branch, fitted the new screen on the drive, and was gone within a couple of hours. Can't fault the quality of the work.

I've used the Cardiff branch of Autoglass for company car windscreen repairs and replacements. None of the drivers have ever complained about the work so I am assuming that they did a good job.

I needed a new screen in the Fezza....autoglass managed to crack the 1st replacement and after successfully fitting the second I noticed that they had scratched and chipped a couple of chunks out of my front wings. I also had some of the sealant residue securely bonded to my paintwork. No apology was given. I would never use them again.....

I spoke to Porsche on Penarth Road and they use Auto Windscreens and never had a problem with them.

They gave me the contacts name and he knew his stuff, asking me if it was the top tinted screen with the integral ariel etc so I feel a lot more relaxed.

Car should be going in in the next few days.
