Had held off posting this as i wanted to make sure the old fella involved was ok (plus my internet connection has been playing up). Funny thing is that i only found out this afternoon that this actually made the front page of of the ECHO a day or so after it happened (about a week and a half ago).

This was the result of an 87 year old gent leaving the garage yard my car was parked in cry

Mine got off quite lightly, looks worse than it actually is:

This is the car the old fella reversed far enough up to tip his car over and on to the back of mine:

The red one has been written off, and it's very possible that the mini camper van he also hit just outside the yard is going to be written off to. He also damaged the gate and pushed the red 911 partially through a wall. The Fiesta the guy was driving ended up on it's roof. From what i can gather, about £40-50k worth of damage.

Happy days,

FG

Christ on a bike!!!

I remember seeing your car on the April run last year and it looked very nice. How long will you be without it then??

When people get to 75 they should be re-tested imo...

I agree entirely.

My grandfather did a voluntary retest with the council and passed. The only crytisism was excessive speed biggrin
He is now 87

Sorry about the damage Family Guy, what a crazy thing to happen.

Hope your car's sorted quickly Family Guy.

I went to the body shop dealing with my car this afternoon and the guy i spoke to believes it could be done in a week or two. But this depends on parts availability so will probably take a little longer.

It's good that the guy got out uninjured and that no one else was involved, could have ended up a lot worsefrown

So far i've found this story on the:

BBC
Daily Mail
Western Mail
Mail on Sunday
Penarth Times
IC Wales

It's bloody everywhere.

Probably for a variety of reasons. The fact that the old chap sounds like he was genuinely very sorry about the accident and damage caused to peoples p&j's and the fact that he immediately held his hands up and said he felt he wasnt fit to drive and was handing in his license.

Sorry to hear about your car looks beautifull (obviously prior to being rolled over by a fiesta).

Not to mention the headline writers joy at being able to infer something greater than reality by shouting TWO RECKLESSLY DRIVEN HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORTSCARS DAMAGED - AGAIN

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I wouldn't be too pleased however if my dealer said: "I'm not too concerned about the cars".

Dave Coombes sounds like a top man. Yeah, it's sh*t that it happened - sorry about your car Family Guy but you have to feel sorry for the old chap. Must be terrible when things that once seemed so easy and normal suddenly become impossible or even dangerous.

Hope it all gets fixed soon.

Saw this in the Daily Telegraph this morning, and my first thought was 'I hope neither of those were owned by PHers'...

I'm just glad that the old guy is OK, and that your Porsche is repairable.
Fair play to the old guy, the paper said he asked for a broom and dustpan to clear up the debris.. and fair play again for realising that his driving days were over.

The red 911 looks a bit of a mess, though... frown
