just had an operation after dislocating my finger, have been told that i cant drive for three whole weeks, im absolutely gutted.

and im only on day two

When I had my appendix out, they said I couldn't drive for a week but they were wrong...

Mind you, you could do anything in the 70's...

Cut the top of my third finger right hand down to the first joint and also tore the nail off the "pinkie" on the same hand and was driving two days later.
Just get in the car.

got a wire through my finger, which is not covered by insurance, so thats why no driving

Nah you should be fine. I had a broken arm and drove. My mate doesnt have an arm and drives. I did have an auto though.

Might be that he can't drive because it would void his insurance.
I know heart attack victims can't drive for a certain number of weeks for the same reason.

totally voids the insurance, im pretty sure i wont hit anyone or anything but its just not worth the risk

Change insurance companies then.
My insurance was fine when I broke my arm. I checked when I came out of hospital (compound fracture). This was about 3 years ago though. I was with Allianz I think. Oh I asked the doctor not to sign me off.

In all seriousness. You have a very minor injury maybe worth talking to the doc again in a couple of weeks to see if he can sign you fit to drive again.
