My passenger Lukasz has a good bit of footage, even captured the near miss. Can give you a copy at the next run if you like. Can see your tailpipe breathing fire too.

As one of the regular organisers of meets and runs in the SW section, I would like to make a comment here that I hope won't offend.
As I know some of you will be attending the next run in April, I thought I would include this comment in here.

I have heard that some of the driving on the last tunnel run meet was not up to the standard that is required at one of the meets I organise. I and others have some concerns over this and also the way that some of the driving is discussed on the forum after the event. You have to remember that this kind of chat afterwards does not project a good image and may attract unnecessary attention from authorities.

If anyone's driving standard falls below that which is expected on one of my organised runs, or if I receive comments off other drivers regarding an unsafe manner of driving. you will be asked to leave and will not be given directions to the next photo stop or lunch destination. Also, you will not be welcome at future runs.

I hope you understand my concerns

Matt

How can you ask someone to leave a public highway ?

im sure there are people who dont drive too well, but seriously, where do you get the authority to police this?

you dont have to and are not expected to agree or condone the driving style, but i think your being totally unrealistic in your proposed actions.

i dont mean to inflame a row or offend, just making what i believe is a valid opinion on your post, so please dont think its a personal attack

ETA this doesnt read like i mean it....

its really not a dig sorry

Thank you for your response to which I will make the following reply.

1) I arrange the meet, spend time researching the route, book a lunch venue and prepare maps and/or gps coordinate's
2) I make sure that everyone that turns up is greeted and made to feel welcome - no "clickiness"
3) Some of the runs include a BBQ, which cost me and others both financially and in terms of my time.
4) The statement above is an informed opinion of both myself and other long standing members of this site and we wish to keep our well being and our pride and joys in good health. I will not tolerate, and neither will others, any persons on the run putting their and other peoples lives at risk, including general public.
5) I cannot ask people to leave a public highway, but anyone acting in an inappropriate manner will be asked to leave the group by either myself or other members. These people may possibly not be welcome at future meets that I organise.

For the reasons given, I hope you will see why I would wish to try and have some control over the actions of the group. To all intents and purposes, I am the organiser. If you wish to organise your own meet, as happened at the recent tunnel run, then you are free to do so. Such an event will obviously not be subject to my rules.
Although the drivers are responsible for their own actions and I cannot control them, I feel that some guidelines are necessary to try to protect everyone's cars and safety. I have organised meets with in excess of 40 cars attending, without incidents. I would like the meets I organise to continue to be fun, incident free days for all involved.
The runs are not designed to test your car against others, they are designed so that like minded enthusiasts can have a get together, chat and have a nice drive out. If people want to race then they should take their cars to the track, as do I and other PHers.

In reality, if someone is acting like an idiot, they will be spoken to. If they continue, or their actions warrant it, then they will be asked to leave the group. I expected a bit of "spirited" behaviour on a run, but I am referring to more extreme cases.

To be frank, would you bring your £100,000 car out on a run when you know that there is going to be some known dubious drivers attending.

If you would like any further clarification, please feel free to pm me.

thanks for the reply, the thing in my mind, is if you take responsibility for the group, it becomes an illegal gathering in the eyes of the law does it not ?

I for one have not attended a tunnel run due to the reasons you mention, so please know this is not having a go, just would like to see one that is free from trouble and free from the sort of driving you mention. I just dont know how that can be achieved

I think i understand where you are coming from, and i know that none of us are angels behind the wheel all of the time so i will appologise if my driving style has offended anybody in previous runs.
I do like to drive in a spirited manner i admit but i always do it in a time place where as not to cause any incovenience to others.
