Sorry guys i'm going to have a bit of a rant. redface

I'm sure the Police etc have their reason for doing these, and i'm sure i'm not the only one who's noticed these recently in our area. But today's events takes the biscuit!

1. Monday morning, A4222 Cowbridge Road, i got pulled over for Census at 7.30am!, on my way to work. The Girl politely asked if it was ok if she asked me a few questions!.... well its not like i had a lot of choice, considering there was a police man in the middle of the road waving me over! Already running late for work, not something i wanted at half 7 on a monday morning and then i had to wait for the person in front of me giving her fella her life story!

2. Tuesday Morning, Cowbridge Bypass - another one - 8am!, Children on their way to school and a lot more traffic around. On my way to work once again. There was only one car in the layby, but he was at the end and thus blocking the whole thing!

Today - Travelling from Cardiff Bay, up the Ely Link Road to the M4. After 5pm so traffic quite busy. Going towards the speed camera and the Leckwith Junction, I can see a lot of traffic and there all braking. Fine, i assume its just an accident or breakdown and take it easy in the traffic. We're stop/start all the way to culverhouse cross and then i notice the traffic information board says "Census Ahead"!!!!!!! You'll never guess where the clever chaps decided to do it too........ on the frigging roundabout!! Luckily i went straight on down the link road towards the M4, but all those other people going off there weren't as lucky.

What a stupid place and time to do this thing!. Yeah yeah, blah, blah they've got to be done, but jeesus, a little common sense would be good. The traffic was just getting worse and worse going down the link road.

Sorry for the rant, something i just had to get off my chest after tonights episode. redface

Anyone else encountered one this week?

I've seen them recently but have never been stopped. What are they for?

I was going to nip into culverhouse b&q on the way home tonight, but the signs for the census put me right off, I kept going down the link rd to the m4 instead. What a stupid place to have a census, everyone knows it's busy there you don't need a bloody census to find that out.

If a police officer, directs you to stop, then you must stop!
However, I don't think that you have to answer the questions.

Probably not police asking the questions just directing the traffic. I was one of the poor sods asking the questions when I worked for a local council but that was 30 years ago laugh Answers were used to help predict future traffic patterns and road usage

They have a great database for this already. Its called the DVLA! Why not send out letters to local drivers asking about driving habits. Make it like a census and then its a legal obligation!!!
