Land Rover servicing in South Wales??

Out of my 3 local dealers - Stratstone Cardiff, Swansea or Newport, which has the best reputation for servicing? It's a 56 plate Defender TD5 which is due its 1st year service.

Newport Quoted 281 whilst Swansea and Cardiff were 361 and I actually spoke to the same service person at both Cardiff and Swansea?!! Cardiff would be the simplest as I work there, do you think they would match the Newport price?

Get a price off these guys. They're very good. Taken the TVR there for some engine diagnostics in the past.

Because the warranty still has 2 years to run I wanted to stick with a main agent but I'll keep them in mind for any work outside of servicing.

Cardiff will match the Newport price and as I work literally half a mile away from them I'll probably book it in there. Just wanted to make sure they weren't a bunch of w@nker$ like their BMW(service) counterparts just down the road!!

You spoke to the same person because all Stratstone/Evans Halshaws use Pendragon's (parent company) call centre in Nottingham.

Just call again and say you'd like to book your car into Cardiff and say you were quoted £281 previously. Odds are they haven't kept any records as the call centre staff are generally useless. If they won't give you the lower price just question the different prices because Stratstone's hourly rate is the same at all their dealers, regardless of marque or area (with a few exceptions).

Strangely, Swansea and Cardiff Stratstone used the same service booking people but Newport had it's own people (I assume on site?). Anyway, after calling Newport Stratstone they agreed to match the service price at 281. Booked in for 1st of February - fingers crossed, I hate putting a car in for service!

Another indy is 4X4s Unlimited in Caldicot, ask for Nigel. He's a keen off road racer and knows his Landies inside out.
