...down to visit folks in a few weeks time and would like to take the car for a good drive when not in the house ! What twisty challenging roads around striking distance of Cardiff - need to stretch the cars legs, brakes, etc ? Cheers

Go out of Cardiff and head towards Brecon on the A470. After Merthyr the worlds your oyster and you have plenty to choose from wink

yes

One of my favourites......
From Brecon head for Lower Chapel and Upper Chapel - B4520 driving
Take a left and head for Garth, across The Range - B4519 cloud9

Head back to Brecon via Builth Wells - A483, and Llangynog on the B4520 clap

Another good one - instead of going up the A470 all the way to Brecon, turn onto the heads of the valleys road (A465) at Merthyr Tydfil - towards Abergavenny. Then do the spectacular Beaufort to Llangynidr mountain road (B4560), then calm down and drop back onto the A40 for the rest of the trip to Brecon. smile
