It was on the radio or the news this morning, some officious tw*t saying they HAD to bring in congestion charging in Cardiff to pay for the overhaul of the city's roads. The beginning of the end starts here.

Presumably it will include driving from a suburb to another suburb (avoiding the centre) and driving from a suburb to the M4. If so I and my gf are done for. Money grabbing barstewards.

Oh for gawds sake.
Congestion charging? Are they nuts?
The ruddy car parks are too expensive as it is.
Voucher parking is the only way I go to Cardiff these days if they take that away.... furious

I've heard from a reliable source that, due to the number of complaints about NCP's prices, the council have somehow forced them to offer a weekly season ticket... for £20! I think it's only available each Tuesday and I think you get it from their Tredegar street car park.

Obviously NCP aren't advertising this.

i think voucher parking in Cardiff is still cheap compared to London where i work...but any congestion charging will be very sensitive thing to do...as Ken L. is finding out in the smoke...

The secret is to actually create the congestion in the first place, i.e. narrower roads, wider pavements, bus lanes, traffic lights etc.. Towns centres are being killed. Internet shopping is on the increase, and it looks like I'll be joining in.

So to judging by recent events to make big brother happy we need to:

Fear any threats imagined or real ( or invented ) and know that Big Brother will protect you.
Not drive as it is bad for the trees, every one who drives over 70 mph on a clear motorway is right there with the bad guys.
Drink all hours the pubs are open but dont smoke.
Have lots of kids to get tax cuts, and don't you dare to be a couple ( in the traditional sense ) and have good jobs because you are evil and will be taxed to death.

The list goes on.

Might as well plug effing cables and run a battery farm like in the Matrix!

Congestion charge?

What congestion?

They've closed the main road through Cardiff so you have to bypass the place.

Only trouble is, to get across Cardiff now adds an extra 1.5- 2.0 miles (minimum) to your journey.

Less congestion yes... more pollution...ummm..yes.

Joined-up thinking my arse!

Is Cardiff that big a place that they can justify Congestion Charging?? In practical terms, where would you limit the zone to?
