Expect wildly optimistic outputs, coupled with runs that have little sympathy for the car and tie down methods you'd never dream of including a ratchet strap accross the struts and down the wings, i kid you not!

Well as mentioned above I asked sometime back for feedback on rolling road days when asked to set this up.. Westec were recommended to me by a few pple so went with it..

Thank you all for your comments shame they have come now and not when I have asked before.. but then its funny how pple always slag things off when someone else has done the ground work.. Also a shame how pple are willing to slag this off but cant recommend somewhere else to go very helpful folks!!

Maybe pple could also tell me what
http://www.powerstation.org.uk/
are like seeing as I am planning on booking with them soon too...

Its booked and I have a few pple attending if we are not happy with the methods or service we will leave it really is that simple.. I put it on here to see if anyone else wished to join us on this event or possible future runs.

Reading your profile mentions no thread asking about recomendations for a rolling road in south wales. I know many people who have had bad experiences there, but also a lot of people who are happy to go back. Personaly there is only one set of rollers i will visit down here and thats Tommy's, unfortunatly it is getting on a bit now (aswell as Tommy) and is only 2wd and i wouldnt recommend him for a turbo car (small fans) but what he has in experience puts any other rollers in South Wales to shame.

You may very well have a good day, but dont be too surprised if there are a few cars that dont meet/exceed expectations and clearly show it in the results.

my experience was that they checked my oil, water and tyre pressures before the run which was good.

The run itself seemed ok although the operator seemed a bit too happy to bounce my car off the rev limiter to get the max power.

The power figures were out, we know this because it was recorded at an impossible rpm (beyond the rev limiter). This was due to the timesaving methods they employ of the RR software learning your wheelspeed at certain rpm and then calculating your rpms from your wheelspeed thereafter. For accurate rpm readings the RR software needs to get a feed from the cars ignition source.

After the run one of the employees parked my car and left my keys on the desk for me to find.

Ive been to powerstation and whilst not experienced the rolling road there it does appear to be a very proffesional outift.

But anyway, who are you Salem and what do you get out of this? confused

Thanks for you report if I and my friends are unhappy with the service we will stop it.. It really is that simple I don’t let anyone do something to my car I am not happy with only a fool would..

As for who am I, what the hell is that all about? Why do I feel like I'm getting attacked on here? I’m no one special I don’t work for Westec or anything although now people are getting suspicious of me I’m getting very suspicious on here too! Is this what this site is like? Rival companies slagging each other off is this what this is all about?

Who am I? Just Joe public. Someone who likes to get out and drive their car not sits behind a computer and talk about. Because of this I started organising little runs around Wales with like minded people a few of which asked me to do a rolling road day.

As for what I get out of the events I organise.. Well a lot a stress, and a lot of grief but also a lot of joy. I don’t make any money doing my trips out in fact they cost me, as I do dummy runs to make sure the route is ok and no road works going on etc (£40+ fuel) and make pack lunches for everyone and bring soft drinks for stop off points (£30- £40+). We take photographs of the cars and never ask a penny for the high res versions either.. and my time which is priceless tongue out

So you might think why I do it. Because I enjoy meeting new and old friends, getting people together enjoying their cars and the British roads and countryside.

Sadly I am beginning to understand why less people organise things now a days. Will it stop me unlikely, I have a good bunch of friends and people that enjoy them which makes it all worthwhile.

Many thanks
Lynda

And......relax.......

Fair points made I think on both sides....in all fairness I think people were merely trying to help by offering their experience of Westec....

As MikeyG said, there's no evidence of you posting a query about RR locations which doesnt stack up with what you say.....if you had, then I think you would have received the same advice.

Good luck with your day!

I think as its been pointed out to me the problem is someone feels I treading on their toes (which isnt the case)

I quote from a profile

"Im the guy behind most of the meets in the south wales section!"

I'm not out to steel your thunder or anything like that and I'm sure South Wales is big enough for us all to enjoy.

Many thanks

I might also point out that you are a fairly new and infrequent member of the PH family - thus popping up and organising something at a place which seems to attract some critisism does raise some eyebrows.

I would suggest that it would have been polite to integrate with the South Wales PHers first, and then suggest whether they'd like to do a RR day; rather than have a moan when the people explain why they don't want to go!

Where is the original post you refer to Salem?

I read all the posts to PH South Wales but must have missed it or it never existed in the first place. Which is it?

You are not treading on anyones toes, we welcome more people here that are willing to organise more events just like you are doing. Ben has been at the forfront to organising a lot of the Sunday Brecon runs and his opinion is valued and justified on these forums. Pistonheads has become an entity of its own, we tend to work alongside other forums and welcome new members of all sorts, we are not all Ferrari, Lamborghini or TVR owners and apreciate all sorts of vehicles in the ranks.

My opinion of Westec is exactly that, MY OPINION, please do not take that as gospel as others as i have said have been happy to continue using there facilities.
