Portalbot Gatso removed?

Hi, I'm new here, but I thought I should inform all the South Wales PH'ers that the gatso on the Westbound lane of the M4 near Portalbot has gone!

The Eastbound lane still seems to have one, but the lane going West has had it replaced with flashing "50" signs...

This may be old news, but I havn't used that road for a while, so its new to me...

AFAIK, it's been out for a good few weeks. Maybe longer. Great to see it gone, that bit of road is bloody awful as it stands. I hope the other one'll go soon. I'd heard that both of them were going. But it's taken ages for one to come down so maybe not, we'll see.

Accident statistics proved that the cameras made no inroads to the reasoning behind them being mounted there in the first place. Actually accidents have increased over the time period that they were there. Still managed to raise a few thousand squid though.

The one they've removed has always been a joke, being sited on the straight as you leave the 50mph zone. Then there was the traffic chaos it caused.... Good to see it's gone!
