I want to put my CSL back to standard. It currently has Alpine DVD-Nav system, Alpine CD-changer, amplifier etc the boot and an Alpine head unit with 7" screen in-dash.

Is removal of the Nav system, CD and Amp something that I can do myself??? I'm sure even I can pop out the in-dash unit and re-install the BMW original. I'm assuming I'm going to hit a myriad of cables and have to remove a load of trim etc???

Can anyone recommend someone or a company who can do this for me in a professional manner without damaging the trim of my car etc???

Cheers byebye

Mark, there is a universal standard connection system for the wiring on modern cars. I don't think you will find a flurry of cables with no identification etc.

I would have thought there would be a key system to remove the unit, have you the handbook that came with the system or can you download one from the manufacturers website?

When I have had changers in the past they simply plugged into the head unit and the biggest problem was getting the cables out from under the carpets etc going to the boot where the changers are usually mounted. I would not have thought the job be difficult and usually very simple.

Although I've not properly looked at it yet it's these cables that are concerning me.

There are separate cd changer and dvd-navigation units in the boot together with amplifier and subwoofer etc. There is an antenna connection from the dvd plus all these items have to connect to the head unit.

As I say, it's the removal of all these cables that's concerning me - most especially trim removal etc.

I shall be selling it at some point - as soon as I can get it all properly removed in fact! The install cost about £5k just over two years ago. Of course it's worth nothing like that now.

I'll list the main item model numbers later for your info.

That would be great!

I'll take a look at it on the weekend but in all probability I would be better off getting someone to do it properly.
