Need to get all 4 wheels on my M3 refurbed ready for resale, is there anywhere else other than Renowheel, happy to use Renowheel, just wondering if there are any alternatives worth exploring?

Taffy,

Have you a painted or polished finish? If, assuming by the other replies the rims are polished, I use Caerphilly metal polishers, they've done 3 sets for me over the last fortnight and their finish is excellent. By the way, YHM smile

for if they are polished - i personally wouldn't advise caerphilly.... i bought my porsche teledials already polished (previous owner had caerphilly polishers do them) and the finish wasn't anything special IMO - it had more of a slight shine, that an actual 'mirror finish'. From Steve doing my old rims i wasn't happy in the difference of Caerphillys work to Steves, hence me getting Steve to spend 10hours on redoing them for me to look like above smile

in fairness they do look really good - although 'less its the picture, shiny apposed to an actual 'mirror' ?

i suppose the shape of those also help though. from what ive heard they use a buffing machine, and the friction creates the heat for the polishing, on a flat surface i suppose thats easier to do, but on my teledials, it was clear they couldn't get in the places the same Steve did by hand.

Again those m3 rims do look really nice biggrin but from my own alloys which were done by Caerphilly, i wouldn't have paid Steve to do them if i didn't think they'd have come back better which they did (in my case anyway)

I hope my reply isn't being taken the wrong way. its not meant as argumentative, just who i'd advise and why smile

I spoke to someone at Custom Rides last night, said they would phone back but haven't so they won't be getting my business! Left a message for caerphilli metal polishers, phoned me back this am and they can do it friday/sat this week, renowheel want 5 days and £400 and Steve in Swansea can't accommodate me as the wheels are on the car and I can't leave it there and get back so is logistically a nightmare.

yes they are the polished ones like those, they look good, how much did he charge for that?

Be sure to post us all pics of result and price info would be good - maybe you can get us a PHeader discount deal....!!!

I'm interested for the "Atheo" alloys on our Touareg....the rims and spokes have a polished finish (painted in between)....reckon they could refurb the kerb damage??

Eh, I don't unnderstand what you're saying, I never even mentioned renowheel and yes I did ask the price, quite normal when enquiring about a service, if they'd bothered to return call when they said they would, ie 5 mins later instead of 2 days later, then I might have considered them, crap service is crap service and service is everything in my book, end of, will post pics next week

Do any of these people powder coat???

I have an M3 CSL, was going to buy new CSL wheels and get the originals refurbed in a different colour, perhaps a dark grey. Always assumed that powder-coating was a more durable finish.

Cheers

If they did not ring you back and said they would then i agree its totally out of order, they are very busy because they are very good but thats still no way to treat customers.

Powder coating does last longer than paint but the finish and choice of colours is not as good as paint. Austin at custom rides can do both, call him 02920 363633 but tell him Ben said to make sure he calls you back!

I'm in no huge rush, have to get the new ones ordered first. I'll give him a call.
