Can anyone recommend a decent campsite near to Cardiff or Newport.

Dunno how good it is, but there's one down at Llandow, next to the race circuit.....would seem the ideal place for a P'header...!

Cheers for that. We are in Cardiff at the end of the month for the British grand prix at the millenium stadium.

Motorsport to me always has 4 wheels with the exception of speedway. 30th June.

There's a camp site next to sophia gardens, 5 mins from the stadium!

Seconded. Perfect location for you. Its a nice 15 minute walk to the stadium from there.

I know it’s a bit further out of Cardiff but what about Forest Drive at Cwmcarn?

It’s a nice place and despite the way it looks on the way there it’s a bit of an oasis in the middle of the ‘sticks’ Also worth bringing a mountain bike along for the trail that’s there

Definitely Sophia gdns, they also allow BBQ etc... in the main part of park so the ideal place to camp.

Opposite the gardens are also some outdoors shops - Blacks Kudos etc... if you forget anything.
