Hi guys,

Does anyone know of a good local (swansea) Dyno for my TVR Chim?

Cheers!

Ian,
From memory I think Mosley's can only read up to 300 bhp, so won't be any use for your tiv which sounds and looks great by the way.
After having a yellow 450 Chim myself, I can vouch for the colour which def suits
the Chim the best!

Thanks guy's

Well I would be up for a local(ish) run to a Dyno!

See if we can generate any interest from here maybe?

Nigel, thanks for the compliments about the chim, yes yellow is indeed very much a "in your face" colour, but well suited to the car.

Was it you I saw turning into Port Tennant/ St Thomas a week or sp ago?
Guess there aren't that many blue Vipers around!! Very, Very much a head turner!!

Cheers

Yes it was me, I had just picked the car up from Sinclair Audi who replaced a track rod end, and mot'd the car.
They carried out a first class job on my car and at a very reasonable cost of
£110.00 total! I was impressed with the excellent service.
I used to use my TVR's as daily drivers but can't with the Viper due too the amount of fuel it guzzles.

dont ask me why but people seem very post shy on wpce unless its booking a track place!

Hi all, I've used westec a few times, they're our neighbours on the estate, good lads and do a good job.
Cheers ....Chris

I'd be interested in a dyno day and I'm sure a few of the lads from SWACC would too. I've read one or two threads on dynos and tend to question their accuracy and reliability except when using the same dyno for comparing how a modification will work on a car. One dyno day with the AACI had a stock 2001 Z28 pumping 401bhp which is clearly wrong and yet some of the other figures seemed credible for other cars.

We just need a 500bhp dyno.

sounds a good idea as long as the dyno is accurate and capable of dealing with higher powered cars. The last one I tried topped out at about 300bhp and sounded like it was going to fall apart.

ok well i'm gonna talk to nick again and see about organising a date down westec. If we get a figure of numbers needed to make the day worth while for them, we may well need you guys to spread the word to get enough intrest.

Plenty of people say they want to go but always depends on a date.... which makes it very hard from an organising point of view!

As I said on WPCE forums, let me get my clutch done and I'll be up for a spin on the rollers at Westec.
Have a mate or two that will come along with their cars too... to make up numbers

im sort of expecting them to need 25-30 people to make it a whole day doing it, and if the real figure is anything like that then we will need you guys to help spread the word and get mates involved etc.

Im thinking about having it on a sunday in may. 21st is my only weekend off that month so i may push for that. should give me enough time to get my car mapped half decently by then.

can only say more now after we've spoken to westec face to face

When I've been down there and asked the same question, they seem to like numbers of 20+ to make it worthwhile.
Still costs about 25 quid to run though

£25 is about standard for a proper RR. i think interpro, powerstation and other big boys are £30 a time

i believe westec rollers will cope with 1500bhp, though im not sure i'd want to stand infrront of 1500bhp on a RR!

I dont like Westecs rollers and ive heard of bad tie down methods, i'd rather Powerstation or Interpro myself.

right, we went to westec today. The costs are as follows

£40 if we get 10 - 15 cars
£35 if we get 16 - 25 cars
and £25 if we can get 26 or more

westec insist on doing back to back runs to prove the accuracy of the figure, and you get a full printout of power and torque graphs etc.

and we are considering the date as sunday May 7th.

thoughts and opinions are very welcome at this point.

Cheers, Ben

Ben,

Thanks for your efforts etc, Im more than interested in Sunday 7th!
I think the £45.00 figure is fair for the runs? at least it will point out the general state of tune etc of the car (which is why i want the run).

Maybe it's me, but she just dosent "seem" as quick!!

suppose all will be revealed on the 7th?
