M4 Brynglas Tunnel New Fixed 50mph Trial!
Discussion
It gets worse. They are also saying they are going to extend the 50 at Port Talbot to junction 42 (just over the bridge). That will mean it'll be a 50 limit here

I come through there in the late evening quite often and it is going to be near impossible to trundle down that arrow straight, relatively new, piece of motorway at 50(ish) when the traffic is even somewhat light.

Yep saw this this morning about Port Talbot section. What annoys me is the Newport section is a trial! We have put up with a year of 50 for the bridge works! Why not have done it then!
If it’s for pollution at Port Talbot has anyone had their back to the motorway and noticed the steel plants that support if not hold up entirely the Welsh economy!
They really need to get on with sorting out the road and building 4 lanes all the way from the bridge to Swansea and three lanes to Haverford West from Port Talbot. Yes it’s overkill but why attempt to build something we need now, once it’s built it will be full already.

Probably proves that the AM's and MP's have no idea what actually goes on in their areas. If it’s for pollution at Port Talbot has anyone had their back to the motorway and noticed the steel plants that support if not hold up entirely the Welsh economy!

Very true!
The politicians are afraid to go against any eco related projects whether sensible or not. It shows the power of the eco warriors and the weakness of politicians.
When I used to commute to work in Port Talbot people used to call me daft for a 25 mile each way commute from Llanelli. My reply was...
“When I come over the Briton Ferry bridge and see the haze above the town I realise why moving there is a non event”
They didn’t like it but always complained about the dust from the steelworks.
The reduction to 50 from 70 plus the speed cameras and stupid slip roads used to cause big traffic snarl ups, with traffic on stop near the now removed westbound camera at the end of the raised section. Locals were up in arms when attempts to block the slip roads was put forward as it meant they could then not hop on and off the M4 for short runs. They couldn’t see the atupidity of that use of the motorway. On at one slip road and off at next a few hundred yards away.

Port Talbot has been declared as the UK's most polluted town. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-43964341
So once again the motorist is being blaimed for circumstances for which they are only partly responsible.
