Avia Engineering Bridgend
Discussion
I have no affiliation to/with these guys whatsoever just thought it would be good info...
I had a lot of suspension refresh work done on my E46 coup and took it to Andy @ Avia Engineering Bridgend for a wheel alignment afterwards as recommended by PH forums.
I knew from the moment i pulled in I was in the right place; a lovely 1990's aircooled Porka sat there having a suspension overhaul itself, along with some tidy TVRs, an Alpina and various jap metal.
Offered the choice of sitting down in their cafe and quaffing innumerate pork products or standing around in the workshop with a mug of tea and watching a craftsman at work. Naturally I chose the latter.
Andy is a race-car builder/ engineer by trade having built / maintained cars for 30 years in various formulae up to F3. His passion is making a vehicle work through a proper geo setup.
Anyway, after spending about 45mins sorting the rears and explaining the machinations of geo setup he got them to the factory spec, covering every detail with me (inquisitive mind and all that), we moved to the fronts and the process was the same. Andy doesn't use a Hunter machine but wheel based laser rig, and a spirit level which he's had for 30 years!
End of the process 2 hours later - car fully adjusted - we examined each laser pointer marker together - we went out for a spin on very greasy/ wet roads. Andy trying to get the back to step out. Me ****ting myself. Of course it didnt.
On the way there I had a DSC / Handbrake amber light throw due to steering wheel pos sensor (just had tie rods changed) so they cleared that for me to.
total cost GBP 55.00.
Absolutely recommend this place for a geo setup and possibly even more. Cheers.

I took my Saab there in August to get the alignment done after a suspension rebuild, Andy's really REALLY good!!! Took me through everything he was doing, and showed a a few things that do/don't work when setting up a car, then took me out for a quick blast around the estate to test it. He took this bend miles quicker than I'd have ever tried and got round there with no fuss at all! Made a hell of a difference to the handling, well worth the money
