Took a different route into work this morning along the A48 from Bridgend to Cardiff. There was a reason for this - I was recording an ECU log and wanted more variation to speed and gears than on the M4!

Ok, my scenario....tucked into a lay-by before Bonvilston (where they sometimes setup to sell Christmas Trees!), there was a marked Volvo estate - his rear end facing me. I was approaching quite a bit too quickly, hit the brakes and slowed to a more reasonable speed. I was expecting him to pull out behind me and pull me in but he didn't.

So, my question....am I likely too just get something in the post? Do they generally have that kind of camera on board?

I was under the firm impression that traffic officers like that have to intercept you and address any offence caused then and there.

Should be fine.

Have to say amazed he didn't pull out behind me - must have been otherwise engaged smile

Yep you should be fine, it would have to be a proper van with all the properly calibrated equipment to do a postal fine. Patrol police only have the camera style or hand held scanners so they will need to catch you and record more evidence to book you.

I always find with patrol cars that if you brake when seeing then (if going slightly too fast), they seem to take this as road observation and not just some idiot speeding everywhere (well unless you are going at warp factor).

I have noticed, of late, a BMW police estate car operating along the A470, stopped, with the lights going but no car so he had either stopped someone who had since left or was doing something else. Point is I have seen this frequently of late so hthey may be on a stopping binge.
