Went for a drive last weekend out towards bridgend, from barry to st athan, llantwit major and towards ogmore and was horrified to find a load of gravel had been dumped on the road.

Lots of skid warning signs telling everyone to do 10mph, naturally the first vehicle on the "resurfaced" stretch of road was an artic bombing along while the cars behind me were upset that I was only doing 30mph so punished me by spraying my nice clean car with gravel as they overtook.

Noticed a few more roads that are due for "improvement", looks like a place to avoid for a while until all the gravel gets washed away =(

(at least they've FINALLY done the road from dinas powys to ty verlon properly now!)

They started this in Bridgend last month. Cheapest possible way to 'resurface' the roads.

They did the same on some roads near Brecon and Abergavenny a few months back.

I was down a crawl in the Caterham to try and stop the chippins leaving marks all over my rear arches!

I drove along the road from Ewenny to Broadlands on the weekend and thought the new surface was actually worse than the old one. I can think of quite a number of roads that need a new surface that are constantly ignored and yet ones that don't appear to need resurfacing get it. This happens every year.

They have done one of the roads in Pyle, a week later the pot holes were back. Money well spent. Not.

This really makes my blood boil. Its bad enough that they won't resurface the roads properly and insist on using tar and chippings that serve no useful purpose whatsoever, but they don't even send the road sweepers out afterwards to get rid of the excess gravel.

Wait until you come to wash the car, you will see thousands of little black tar dots all over the car... spent 2 hrs last weekend and only managed to remove around 30% of the stuff !!!

I've already noticed that when I washed one the other day and since both my cars are white, it shows up even more.

Auto Gleem intensive tar remover does the job quickly and effectively though.

Was thinking you might be having a problem and with the main road being done the other month. Let me know if you need a hand.

They did this the day after I got my MX-5, which is my first proper RWD car, I pulled out by the monument in St Athan a bit briskly.... I was very nearly facing the direction I came from hehe.

Last year they spent money on doing our local bypass correctly, with a new smooth road surface. This year, they threw grit on it.
