For me, it has to be the Elan Valley road B4574 from Rhayader to Devils bridge at the top of my list.
Also any roads around Snowdon, found the A4085 from Penryhndeudraeth to Pont Aberglaslyn particularly interesting on a road trip last year smile
Horseshoe pass is ok but don't find it that interesting a road for some reason.

The Evo Triangle in north wales is pretty good, but can get busy on good days. As MikeyG said the Élan Valley is worth a go.

In South Wales, you've got the A4069 over the black mountains near Swansea that is probably one of the best roads around, in general I'd say any road north of Merthyr Tydfil is worth exploring and any road through the Forest of Dean like the A466 is worth a shout.

I'm sure somewhere on here there are some routes people wouldn't mind sharing.

Cracking little run from Brecon to Builth Wells, if you're down south. Just watch out for the sheep.

I'd say the B4391. Every combination of corner and stunning landscape/good elevation changes.

Runner up: B4560.

Down south the B4560 is an old favourite of mine (especially as it was 15mins from the parent door), but over the past few years the traffic & cyclists, combined with the blind crests has made it a bit of a nightmare. It's not uncommon to find a "train" of about 10 cars bonnet to bumper doing 40mph all the way which just infuriates me mad

The A4059 has grown on me, long open views certainly make dispatching traffic a lot easier although you can reach licence losing speeds very easily. 7-8am across there is my idea of driving heaven. It's just those darn sheep...

The B4519/20 is probably the most involving drive with the big bonus of very few sheep. The best bit about it though is that the best end (North) is usually empty cloud9

Third or fourth (like the B4520/19 option) is the A4107/A4061 combination. Scenery and good combination of bends.

Not Welsh , but having spent many years driving the lovely roads around mid and south wales and just coming back from a weekend in South West wales. It has to be Elan vally, Rhayader, Brecon, Abergavenny and those sort of areas.

lovely area and roads
