Not local but I know a few people who have purchased from http://www.911virgin.com/ and have great service. One of customers won't buy of any one else.
I'd give the local porsche specialists a call as they may know of 996's coming up for sale. I can highly recommend Dave at RS Porsche in penarth, he's been looking after my 993 for years and is a top bloke. Theres also Chris Denning. I've heard good things about him, but never used him myself.
I am assuming you've researched the possible issues with the water cooled engines?? Not wishing to put you off, but there are some.

I echo the feeling above, I had a mint 2000yr carrera 2 with 63k on the clock (with full service history) and suffered from a cracked liner 18mths into ownership, these are more common than you may think with these engines.
Have a good read on the autofarm website, the main problem is that you cannot check for this issue, it will just happen. Autofarm rebuilt mine and it was warrantied for 12mths.
For full rebuild with new liners etc you are looking at £10k plus. (I am speaking from experince here !!)
The 3.4 are more prone to this that the 3.6 litre
GT3 cars do not suffer from this issue.
Cheers

Already done and read boyos! Thanks though.
Got one last thursday, great history, 3 owners and 69k on her. Last twoowners used the same main dealer in Exeter for services but all work was carried out by SCS Porsche (Andy Moss) who has a great rep. Engine was fully rebuilt by Porsche and i have the reciepts etc, the IMS bearing was changed and i think they now use pistons and sleeves from later 997's to ensure strength!
I love her

Very true Andy.
Personally I would leave the car as it is, I think it looks fantastic like this. The GT3 style wheels suit the narrow body due to the narrow spokes, and I also think that the Turbo front bumper can make the narrow body car look a bit nose heavy, removes the svelt, lithe look of it.
This is only my opinion and there is no right or wrong, part of the problem with your car is that it looks so good as it is, so let's see it in the metal please.
