Any suggestions?

Just bought a cheap E46 320ci and could do with getting it checked over. Don't fancy paying main dealer prices for a £1200 car though!

B&R Garages is somewhere I've seen recommended, anybody used these?

Thanks

I used to use B & R but not particularly impressed with their capability. It was a while ago so they may be better (or worse!) now.
Thanks. I actually popped in at lunchtime as my car was running quite badly this morning. Revs were all over the place.
Unfortunately they said they were completely full until Monday at the earliest, so couldn't even look at it!

It turns out that the loose MAF sensor plug I noticed yesterday was unplugged for a reason. MAF is buggered, so plugging it in again last night was the reason for the car running horribly.

Temp fix is to unplug it until I get a new MAF and other bits and pieces.

Thanks, will check it out. I've seen there's some place in Barry which is quite convenient(http://www.permoveo.ltd.uk), but no idea how good they are.

Nice garage by the way. I've got the entry level version!

Seems to be what a lot of people are saying.

Took it there this morning, but only ended up getting a diagnostics test done. (Which I'd already done myself)
I ended up picking it up and lunchtime rather than leaving it there for them to look at.

It seems very likely that a torn/cracked intake hose is causing my problems, but I don't think they even checked it. (Even though that was their diagnosis last week, and what I told them today my problem was likely to be)
They thought it was definitely a blocked breather or something, which would have been £360 with parts and labour.

I think I'll take a look for myself tomorrow, and hopefully find the cause.

If you're still having problems take it to Euro Performance in Pontyclun. German cars I won't go anywhere else and I've been using them for years now.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Took it to Permoveo in Barry this afternoon, and so far so good.

Paid for another diagnostics test, but this one was quite thorough and included things like smoke tests for leaks, checking injectors, plugs and probably a whole load of other stuff I can't remember.

Diagnosis was that it was generally overdue a service (which I knew anyway), spark plugs look knackered, and the CCV valve and other leaking/cracked hoses were also likely to be contributing factors.

I'm probably going to change the oil/filters and spark plug tomorrow myself, and will get a quote to change the CCV and any other hoses that need doing.
