The A4069 there and back from bridgend
Discussion
ready to take in a nice run along the a4069, coming from and back to bridgend, whats the best route there driving fun wise, on the way back i would like to take in aberavon beach so i guess that would lead me from the a474 and then back onto the m4
so whats the best way up there excluding using the m4 and a740
anywere else i should take in while im up in the brecons?

I did this run weekend before last - very cold but absolutely lovely under crystal clear skies. From Bridgend up Ogmore Vale (A4061) and over the top to Tonypandy. Stay on the A4061 over the Rhigos to Hirwaun, then Heads of the Valley (A465) past Merthyr and Ebbw Vale, until you see a small signpost to Llangynidr (B4560) - a fantastic road. Follow that until you see the signs for Brecon (A40). At Brecon keep on the A40 to take you through Sennybridge to Llandovery. At Llandovery, take a left just after the West End cafe and you'll be on the lower part of the A4069. Follow that through to Llangadog where you'll take a sharp left in the village, then you're onto the mountain stretch - good times!
If you go over the Rhigos road to Hirwaun then as Bountyhunter says get onto the A4059 through Penderyn (watch out for sheep)and then at the end right onto the A470 back to the A465 and then continue on to the Llangynidr road. Once on the B4560 as you start dropping down the right turn towards Crickhowell is also another fast road option.
