Utility Suppliers In S Wales
Discussion
Ok I've just had an offer accepted on a house in the Aberdare valley, and I am flying to the UK in a few weeks to sign the documents. House needs work and my wife will be be going there, and living near by with my family to supervise this, but I need to sort out suppliers for all the utilities in the few days I'll be around signing documents, last time I had a house in the UK you bought eletric from the eletric board, but now you can buy from various places so who do people recommend? and am i better putting the water, gas and electric all with one supplier? We will be very low users the house will be mainly emty for a few years and just used for holidays.
Yeah water will be with Dwr Cymru. If you are only going to be in the property for short period and so using very little energy may be worthwhile looking for a provider that doesn't have a daily standard charge but only charges for units used. Not 100% certain of council tax rules as these are different from area to area but you will more than likely be liable for these unless you can prove the house is inhabitable - no bathroom or kitchen facilities etc.
Thanks I found a web site now, never realised there was such a choice, I can sort out the council tax, (I hope) house has been emty for a few years following adeath, so I assume it's on some temporary 'nil rating', and I'll just keep it that way until the work is done and the wife moves in.
Hi Berw, well done on the house! This site should prove invaluable: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/ all sorts of tips and advice for pretty much everything
