Hi all Hope you dont mind me popping into your part of the forum But I started a topic in the general gassing place and was advised to try you guys as after all its your area which is a good idea smile
heres a copy of my thread

evening all. Im thinking of having a day out putting some miles on the car while at the sme time driving some decent and hopefuly intresting roads so my plan was to head west down the M4 heading into Wales and then taking in the black moutain road and I was wondering if anyone else has been there done that so to speak Im not 100% sure of the best route to take towards the mountain but Im going In my tarck car so Im realy looking to use roads that are wide enough for cars to pass no promblem as I cant realy pull up on grass vereges and the car is a nightmare for reversing, and without too fussy Im looking to drive like us all on roads that have a decent road surface as my car is a bit crashy on the raods at the best of time so the smoother the better if its possible )). After reaching and driving the maountain road Im then looking to head west a little more towards Ceinewydd and then upto Penmaenpool before going east to Shewsbury, Telford and then back south to wiltshire prob on the M6/M5.

Any Ideas/advice on this run if you have done somthing likewise yourself would be most useful.

Ta

Any advice would be very helpful thanks.

M4 Jct 32, 470 to Merthyr, Left along the 465, Right along the 4059, left along the 470, left along the 4215, right along the 4067, left along the A40 to Llandovery, take the 4069 to Llangadog, sharp left at Llangadog keeps you on the 4069 up the Black mountain. When you reach Brynaman, double back & drive it the other way. biggrin
Straight through Llangadog then Right along the A40, left along the 482 to Aberaeron. Refreshments. 487 coast road to Aberystwith, then A44 all the way to Worcester. driving
Report back with pics. thumbup

If you're in something low and stiffly sprung just be careful on some of the moorland roads due to depressions and humps eg. 4059 from hirwaun/penderyn to the A470. I always think I'm going to hear a scrunch when tanking along there.

They are OK now, better than after the culls.

OP. Its the ninja kamikaze ones you need to watch out for. Those marauding baa baa's sneak out at a moments notice, I swear they are sniggering when they do it. It is interesting watching someone overtake you only to see them screech to a halt as a wooly plays chicken with on coming traffic in the opposite side of the road. Part of the problem with being hefted I suppose, they do not see cars as a threat, so watch out on the overtakes as well.

I love that stretch of road, but yes the sheep can be a nightmare!

They will just decide to step out and cross in front of you. Not a road I'd want to be driving 'too' quickly on.
