Mobile car diagnostics
Discussion
Can anyone recommended a mobile car diagnostics company in the south wales area. I am at the end of my tether. I have 2003 TVR tuscan which is throwing up an EFI fault. I have interrogated the ECU with the software i have and it is not throwing up any fault codes. Cuurently it is running rough and will not able idle or hold revs butt now and then it runs as sweet as nut so it is an intermittent fault, maybe a bad earth. As it is not driveable i cannot get to the TVR garage in chepstow.
thanks.
thanks.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am familar with the fault codes, none of which comes up on my dash. It comes up as A EFI fault, which referring to the TVR sagris manual which is the bible for the speed six engine identifies possible causes such as throttle position sensors which i have replaced. It could be the ECU. I am using the diagnostic software that is available from the TVR community but it is not throwing up any fault codes. I have replaced HT leads, plugs, crank sensor, temperature sensor and replaced the gasket materail on the inlet manifold in case in was an air leak. Originally i thought it was the coil and relaced with a used one from a fellow TVR member. In addition i have replaced fuel pump, checked fuel line pressure and injector pattern looks ok. I may be edging back to the coil, i have checked resistance values and it appears ok, but it could be breaking down. Next step is with a spark tester to check i am getting a good spark at the plugs. The speed six engine is pretty straight forward to work on, i have worked on a lot worse. I have been on the TVR forum and they have been extremely helpful but the fault remains and i was trying to get some local help with additional diagnostic equipment to try and identify the fault. If it persists i will have to get the car transported to the TVR garage in Chepstow
Well I have 3 different Diagnostic programs, the only thing I have struggled on is Saab/Vauxhall systems.
Failing that I have a good old multimeter, i'll have to check if the TVR is on my Autodata, quite handy for testing sensors and things.
The offer is there as long as you have tea and biscuits

Hi sorry to see your having issues with Your TVR, I also have had strange faults on my car before too turns out it was just bad wiring connections, I have also had a fail injector before that caused similar issues.
It does sound like you issue lies with the EFI, erratic revving can be caused by an injector timing issues or sensors. but ever since you have changed most of these, it does leave you scratching your head. I did see somewhere how to test the Injectors with a multi meter and the injector connections using a bulb and a bit of wire.
I will try and dig this out, and pass it on.
you can of course talk nicely to it ? this does work with some TVR's
Maybe someone can help out and TOW it down to Stuart at Forza for you ?

I have resolved the problem, it was injector related. The service record shows water contamination of the petrol tank from the previous owner. At the time it was cleaned out but it appears some water remained and the injectors were not cleaned. Inspecting the injector spray showed a dribble from the injectors. Removing the injectors from the fuel rail and there was crap in the bottom of the seatings. I removed the sender unit and inspected the fuel with a dip stick and there is water present at the bottom of the tank. So next step is to get injectors cleaned, new fuel filter, remove old fuel and purge the system with new fuel. I do remember there is a method of removing water by adding methylated spirits which mixes with the water and gets burned off in the normal way. Anybody hear of this? Thanks
