Can anyone recommend a good country hotel in S Wales. Ideally with a pool or spa but as long as it's cosy with good food and wine the pool/spa may not be necessary.

Happy to spend around £250 a night but ideally under £200.

Depending on where in S Wales the Nant Ddu Lodge on the A470 between Brecon and Merthyr is where we put our business customers up.

Fairyhill in the Gower is very good but no pool I'm afraid.

Ditto - we also put customers up here. Spa is nice however the restaurant has excellent reviews....

I have also taken my wife there for a spa weekend and can recommend the hotel from a personal basis.

The vale, junction 34 M4 very central to South Wales. Excellent facilities have stayed there a few times and only live 8 miles away.

We are staying in Hammet House in a few weeks. Looks interesting, eclectically refurbished and gets good Trip Advisor reviews.

biggrin You are right! Not descriptions that would spring to mind!! But the Spa and pool at the Lodge are nice.

How about Hurst House near Laugharne?

We're going to make a last minute decision based on the weather. Am keeping an eye on availability and most places are still OK so we are happy to take a chance.
