Hi folks

Years ago when I lived in Barry I recall that Cowbridge was quite a nice small town. Is this still the case? Nice enough to take the wife for a wedding anniversary night away?

Cheers smile

I don't think Cowbridge has changed that much over the years. Haven't heard any horror stories about it changing.

Its much the same really apart from having a Tesco on the High Street! It gets a bit lively on a Friday and Saturday night with some of the youngsters but nothing too beyond.

Cheers both thumbup

Was looking at The Bear Inn but they have a wedding on that particular day so would be too busy for us.

Thinking of Cardiff Bay now instead...

Yeah Cowbridge is nice enough. Shame The Bear is full as it's not a bad place to stay.

Cardiff Bay will be a little bit livelier!

I live in Cowbridge and as much as I love it, I wouldn't really say it's somewhere worth staying. It's a nice enough place to have a wander around the shops if your o/h is into all the boutiques.

As I am not a drinker, I can't comment on what it's like for an evening but it seems the main places to go are The Bear, Oscars (part of The Bear) and Bar 44.

Thanks all

I'v switched my attention to the Bay now as I'v not been around there yet.

Anything good to look out for whilst there?

Get into the centre on a Saturday night and witness carnage wink The first time I went out in Cardiff I arrived about midnight in the centre after a few pints in the Bay, it looked like a bomb had gone off - police and ambulances everywhere, bodies on the floor, but no, it was just kicking out time hehe

Good night out though!

If the weather's nice, walk from Mermaid quay, past the Norwegian Church and round the barrage to Penarth side, takes about an hour and a half, but some nice views on the way and a few places to stop for a drink/ice cream.
