Hi all,
I was wondering if there are any Ferrari owners in S. Wales? Ideally 355 or 360, past or present owners...?
If so let me know as I wouldn't mind some advice if anyone can help,
thanks
Andy

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I was considering a 355 or 360 and was wondering are the running costs and 'out of the blue' issues as scary as they sound??
I have been to see a 355 but not yet had a good poke around a 360.
Thanks
Andy

I have no experience of the 355 as I had a 360.

Mine was still under warranty when I bought it so I used the main dealer for servicing and ancillaries.
I budgeted circa 4k pa for servicing and any non warranty items.
Independents are considerably cheaper cost wise.
Ball joints are a weak point and cost circa 350-500 each and there are 8 on the car, 2 at each corner. (if you hear any knocking noise from suspension then this is probably the issue)
Cam belts need to be changed every 3 yrs or 12000mls coupled with a service this is circa 3k.
They eat rear tyres at circa 350 each.
MPG ...enthusiastic driving sees circa 11-14 mpg ....take it easy and not much more than 17mpg.
Some people may say they are not well screwed together but i did not feel this was the case, my interior showed no signs of wear for a 35k ml car

If you buy privately then get it checked over by someone who knows the brand or it could be a very costly purchase.
If you can budget 5 k per yr then that should cover most things that are likely to need doing as the engines are pretty bulletproof if they have been looked after.

Don't be put off by mileage, buy on condition and as long as you have bought wisely you should have an extremely enjoyable ownership experience.
I purchased mine with 15k mls on it and sold it 3yrs later with 35k mls and it still drove as it did when I bought it.

The noise is intoxicating and the feeling when you open the garage door and see it there waiting for you is emotional.

Buy it, drive it and enjoy it .....ohhh and take lots and lots of pictures... I love looking back at mine now .

The only reason that I sold mine was I was not really using it as much as I would have liked...I now have a 911 as my daily driver.

Good luck in your quest ....just take care and don't get cloudy eyed and buy the 1st one you see unless it has been vetted thouroughly.

Sound advice above. Be also aware of the OE exhaust manifolds as they are very prone to becoming perforated and will set you back circa £1500 per bank.

Superb car, 360 manual. Paid list back in the day...bought with 700 miles on the clock...sold 12 months later with 3000 miles more...cost me £7.00 per mile. The only car Ive ever been bothered to calculate the cost of to this level ...that's without petrol!. Enjoy.

Had a 355gts a couple of years ago. Great car, awesome noise and wonderful handling. Ferrari's are like mistresses allegedly - exciting expensive and high maintenance. I budget ted £5k a year for servicing and parts and spent that. Usually something broke each year and the cambelt service everyb2 yrs took care of my budget. But hey you have to own a Ferrari if you can. Now I am hooked on Astons. Buy on condition and service history and it must be red if you want to resell it..rosso over crema or Nero
