We're looking into sending our first (boy) to a private (independent) school in the Cardiff, starting at nursery age. We've pretty much narrowed the choice down to either the Cathedral School in Llandaff or St John's College in St Mellons. Does anyone have any experiences of either school - good or bad?

Any other suggestions/recommendations would be appriciated.

Cheers,

The Dcotor

Both good schools and highly regarded locally - not a lot to tell between them, but St John's has the better result I think.

We live 5 mins from St Johns so it was the obvious choice for our kids schooling. We found that the education was excellent but one of our kids was being bullied and the way that the school dealt with it was appalling. We were left with no choice but to move them. Since moving our kids we have found that there have been a number of parents who have moved their children from there for similar reasons.
We now have them in Kings Monkton where they are flourishing.
Other Friends have their kids in cathedral and are more than happy with that particular school.
All schools have their problems , but how they are dealt with makes a huge difference.

The same thing happened to my Neice, although she moved from the Cathedral School to Howells. Her brother still goes to the Cathedral School (however their parents have nothing good to say about the Cathedral School's Headmaster).
