I have been detailing for about 6 years and recently had one of my biggest jobs to do.
It was for a very good friend who recently bought a Land rover Discovery in black his dream family vehicle.
The vehicle from a distance looked good but up close it had been dragged through really big and really rough hedges, leaving the body work extremely scratched, it was full of holograms and swirls and some of the paint was clouded.
I had to use 2000 grit on the scratches on most of the panels and then cut and cut and polished it.
After I finished it he took it home proud as punch.
Once home he was then going to purchase a set of Gloss black 22" Overfinch alloys to finish the car off.
The day he was going to buy them he woke up the next morning and as you do went outside to look at his pride and joy.
To his horror apart from the back door the whole car had been keyed both sides and the bonnet down to the metal.
It really makes you think why have a nice car.........????????

Thats the problem, you can have a million nice normal people walk past your car and you don't know about it, one idiot and it costs you money and heart ache.

Gutting, wish your mate could find the person responsable and key their face. I just don't understand why people do these kind of things

He should have waited for it to be vandalised first, then had it detailed. It would have saved a lot of money and effort.

What drives anyone to think its ok to just plain vandalise someone’s car is beyond me!

a guy i know has been tastefully modifying an Escort GTI over many many years, and has just about got it too how he wants, he's won quite a few shows with it too, and the day he leaves it outside while work is being done in his garage, is the day some little twunt comes along and swirly keys every panel on the passenger side, even down to bare metal on some parts, you can see the original car colour on other bits too!

given the car isn’t worth that much as far as the insurance is concerned he's in a difficult situation now, does he fork out more than the cars worth for a full re-spray, or does he just cut his losses and break it up trying to recover a tiny fraction of what he's invested in it so far!?

Really is upsetting ,about 12 years ago I had my old GTR 32 keyed it's a horrible feeling and you really wish you could be there when they are in the process of vandalising it, just to say hello and thankyou for doing that to my pride and joy!
