Anyone here recommend a good butcher in Cardiff? After some decent (1"+ thick) Ribeyes for Xmas.

Cheers.

Can't help in Cardiff, A good mate of mine is an award winning butcher here in Neath though? Supplies most of the nice restaurants in the area.

+1 lick

Or really +3, because that's how many people one of those baguettes can feed!

I've had some beautiful rib eyes from Martin Player in Whitchurch.

The first lot of rib eye's I had from here were very good, the second time not so. He didn't know how long the meat had been hung for either, which surprised me a bit.

The best steak I've had in the area came from one of the butchers in the market if you go in past the fishmongers it's the first one on the left.

Was a few years ago now but they always stand out in my memory.

How strange. You'd expect more from a 'high class butcher'.

When I got mine, about a year ago, he knew the breed, farm and how long it had been hung for.

Yep Dave is excellent.

Alternatively try Driscoll's in Pontcanna - ask for Dave and talk to him about cars - should secure you a bit of discount, and at their prices its welcome!!

Finally, at the other end of the price spectrum, theres Prings on Crwys Road. Always a queue there, terrific value and excellent steak which they will cut to order if you ask nicely.
