after all the hype about us getting snow as early as october, we still have no sign of any for the rest of the month....so much for the quad we bought to play on...

how do they manage to get it so wrong?

Could be worse, you could have bought a snowmobile instead.

quad is great fun, we buy one every winter, though we had a 2 seater buggy last year for a change, was great till some knob head stole it

The forecast for snow in October was by an American Meteorologist that was swiftly headlined by the Daily Mail for sensation!!!

Sadly the truth is no forecast can go much beyond a week with any degree of certainty. Will we get snow this year? Who knows?

Anybody on the M4 between J35 & J36 this morning may have thought the snow had arrived. The hail froze on the motorway turning the motorway into an ice rink. Made for interesting driving.

Not half - Spoke to my dad this afternoon just after a hail storm. Coming down the A4232 a car was sat facing the wrong way in the outside lane after getting friendly with the centre barrier on the left under Culverhouse Cross. He exited at Leckwith to find Leckwith hill closed due to another accident. Went back on the 4232 only to see yet another car sat on top of the barriers on the opposite carriage way just before the elevated section.

Is grit useless when there's that much hail, or had it not been done?

we had a thin layer up here in the mountains surrounding aberystwyth, and this morning it was like ice! treacherous trying to get down the hill out of our village.

my mum said there was about 10mins of pure hail on her way to work, was like an ice rink on the roads. not so bad now though, although its bloody freezing frown

I would imagine any grit put down in the last 24 hours has been washed away with the rain. If the M4 had been gritted it didn't help today.

I was stuck in that this morning. Came back from Cardiff about 50 mins later, roads all clear and the gritters decided to come out.

The hail was pretty heavy driving past Talbot Green/Llantristant this morning. Thankfully no wannabe rally drivers around and everyone sensibly slowed down. It made the roundabouts pretty slippy even at low speeds.

Looks like someone overcooked it on the A4232 again last night. Second night of bad traffic heading towards Culverhouse Cross.

Not 100% but i don't think any snow has fallen around that area if it has it would of gone since then has its been raining all day today.

Have a good blast anyway.

Apart from a bit of slush down one forest track ( angel ) there was no snow, just lots of fog on higher ground! Was a good blast though!
