Wales Rally GB - Stage
Discussion
I'm trying to decide where to go for this year's Rally as its not coming to South Wales.
Which is the best stage for getting way too close to almost out of control speeding cars and trudging through the rainy forest without overly strict marshalls: Hafren, Sweet Lamb or Myherin?
Thanks

I watched the Rally at Myherin and Halfway last year (we go to Halfway every year). Myherin was very good, not too many spectators but it's a forest stage so you really only see a few hundred years at any time.
Sweet Lamb is a lot more open and you'll get to see the cars come over a longer distance. It's quite a popular spectator stage so it's best get there early!

Halfway I find the best of the ones i have been to, so much so i have been going there for 4 years running now and will be there again this year. If you cross at "Dixies" on the stage you can also watch the tarmac stage that runs before halfway as they run next to each other at one point. Its wide open so there are good views and there are wooded areas with foxholes already dug out for you to build a fire in and take some shelter when you wait for the second run through

What about the Thursday and Friday stages in this years Wales Rally GB as I have go home Friday afternoon? Also its been 30 odd years since I last seriously went watching a big rally (although competed in several RAC's in the late 70's). In my day you didn't have to pay to spectate just know where the stages went, get close and walk in. Reading the info on the WEB it seems you have to buy tickets now? But how do they actually police this?? Or is buying a ticket only for the casual (non motorsport fan) spectator like it used to be on the old RAC spectator stages? If I go my own way without a ticket, do the police book you for parking in a forest side road or something?
No self respecting rally fan would have bought a ticket back then but as I'm v rusty on the current situation please would someone more up to date give me a heads up?
Also I was used in the old days to having knowledge of the actual stage details with map refs of start and finish. Is this info available anywhere?
Thanks.

with regards to needing a ticket, depends if you enter a spectator car park, it is then £20 per person in the car! the poilce also inforce a no stopping/parking policy for about a mile in each direction of a stage start/finish and parking area.
for map ref to stages nothing official for start/finish locations on the WRGB Website but google could be a friend here
also this site is good for basic stage info - http://www.itsmymotorsport.co.uk/Hafren_rally_stag...
