Hi I'm Looking to remap my Clio 182, and was wondering if any of you fine people could suggest anywhere local that could do this for me. Thanks

Remapping a 182? In all honesty I wouldn't bother, I should imagine there are only marginal gains to be had.

Thanks mate, do you know any tips that could improve performance.
Thanks for your time

A quick Google shows 15bhp and 20NM torque for £300.

Whether that's worth it to you or not I'm not sure.

So they say, I wouldnt bank on that unless it has a Uprated air filter & uprated exhaust so add another £350?

I wouldn't remap anything other than a turbo engine, Its rare for people to remap NA engines due to poor performance increases.

TBH OP, 182bhp is more than enough for that type of car. Depending how practical you want the car, you could improve performance without fettling with the engine to much. Lightweight wheels, uprated suspension, stripped interior, etc will all make the car go faster. Id work on reducing the kerb weight rather than increasing bhp!

It's only worth re mapping an n/a car if it's had internal work done (like hi lift cams, ported head etc)

You will probably get more out of the car if you take some advanced driving tuition. That way any upgrades made to the drivers ability can be transfered at no cost from car to car.

I'd agree. I wanted to get some extra ponies out of my Morgan ( Ford 1800 engine) not primarily for top speed but for increased mid- range torque and, after all the basic stuff, ( improved induction route and exhaust maifold together with less dense Cat) I looked at individual throttle bodies. ( Jenvey)

However, because the Morgan dashboard is essentially the Ford item I would have had to run a system whereby the indivdual TBs were managed via an Omex but I had to keep the Ford ECU to run the gauges ( including crank sensor)
So, I went down the road of re-worked head and cams, plus better rods etc

It wasn't the cheapest way but it was neat and it meant I didn't have to have a version of 'piggy backing' on my ECU

Hi there to everyone btw as this is my first post, but enough with the introductions and now to give my input :-P The BHP gains quoted by Remapping companies are just the PEAK power gain, it doesnt show the overall improvement throughtout the rev range and the increased driveability that can be gained through a remap, Also many places tend to do a "one size fits all" type of remap which uses a file that is compatible with your ECU model but is also then used for everyone elses car that also has that same ECU model, These remaps tend to be cheaper and still do the job but obviously arent tailored to suit your car OR your requirements, If you are after a bespoke bit of tuning which designed to your own requirements then you need to looks for somewhere which does custom remapping (Often involving the use of a rolling road to get the car set up properly and tested in a variable-free environment) This places will be able to give you official before and after readings of your BHP and Torque, They will also be able to tune the car to what your want, such as if you want better fuel economy or just straight out top end BHP or focusing on mid-range torque for better driveability on the motorway etc. You can even get the Rev-Limiter moved up to a higher RPM so you can hold the gears for longer. But as already stated by other members on here I would strongly advise fitting either a Hi-Flow performance panel filter which will simply fit straight into your standard air-box whilst still improving air flow or sealed cold air fed induction kit and also but not essential is the fitting of an aftermarket Exhaust, Although the standard system fitted the 182 is more than adequate to be used with a Hi-Flow filter and a Remap as it was actually designed for performance and compatibility with that car in the first place. Oh and although the power gains achieved from remapping an N/A car may not be completely feelable by the driver, they are definately visible when using the car in the real world, say for instance you do a timed before and after run on a circuit or when going for a blast down some of your favourite A and B roads as you will be able to hold the gears longer to get the most out of the BHP improvements whilst also being able to take advantage of the added Torque to help pull you out of the corners. Well everyone im sorry for the essay but I hope you all find the information helpful :-) Any other questions then feel from to ask me :-)

I know a lot can be done with the 182 engine in the right hands. I have a couple of customers with 200hp+ clio cups.

K-Tec racing are the one of the few no bull companies for N/A renault tuning.

This might be no help at all but check out OMEX. They make ECU's - I have one and it's very good. When I last saw them they were evaluating (read - testing until it broke) some modifications to a 182 engine. It had throttle bodies and other bits, can't remember all the details as it was a couple of years ago.

Two sources you might like to talk to ( although again neither is THAT local- Omex are in Cheltenham and Emerald in Norfolk) might be

Dave Walker at Emerald:

Emerald [sales@emeraldm3d.co.uk]

or Andrew Cornock at Omex:

andrewc@omextechnology.com]

Both are really helpful and knowledgeable guys and have very good reputations
