fuel pump only works if i run a jump line from the batt. what can be the problem that the factory power line to the fuel pump isnt gettting power? where can i look for posably a lost connection or a dead realy?

sorry guys its on a U.S. 85 280i that i have the problme w/
If it's similar to the early UK cars, there's a bullet connector in the heavy red/black wire to the fuel pump. Located at the front LH of the engine bay, tied to a chassis rail low down.
Apart from that, could be one of the two fuel system relays.
Five minute job... ;-)
