Whilst enjoying a trackday at Oulton, I came out of Druids to the sound of something 'letting go' behind me. Although the car was OK for a while after, on the way home there was a distinct whining coming from the rear.

Any ideas ? Expert opinion required please ....

Can't do expert opinion, but if an ordinary one will do it does sound like a heat/stress-induced mechanical failure, potentially wheel bearing, UJ, diff bearing. Don't leave it *too* long as some of these could lead to catastrophic failure.

Cheers,

I agree with Pete - could be any of his suggestions but also check the oil level in the diff. Its a bit noddy but also check your rear tyres for witness marks in case they are rubbing against anything that may not be quite where it should.
