The original message was from CJ blowing off steam about a Tower View kit that didn't seem to meet his expectations.

It was a bit 'blunt' so got deleted

blimey - what was expected. I've got nothing but praise about the two different upgrades I've had on my 450SE and Steve I'm sure would say the same etc. Massive benefit compared with the original.

It would appear that the kit basically didn't fit. Given the variation in build components on SE's this isn't really surprising.

I think he said it took 9 hours to do one side!!!

Ah - that explains it. Mine took me no hours to fit and fitted perfectly......being a lazy sod I got Tower View to do it for me! Depending which route he went the standard calipers need spacers which, if he didn't have may have been the problem. The brake pipe (Aeroquip (sp?)) need to be moved a bit too to avoid problems on max lock.
The only problem I have found with the second upgrade that I have now (massive Billet calipers and new disks etc) is that the space saver doesn't fit !

For some reason the kit didn't fit and there was a flaming sent to the list which not only is against da rules but was unfair it appeared before he had spoken to Tower View.

As with many things TVR, you can't absolutely guarentee anything with these cars. I've seen cars that have been built no more than a few weeks apart with completely different engine bay layouts! There have been at least 7 different brake master cylinders fitted so that means you have a 1 in 7 chance of getting the wrong one unless you can supply some additional info. And it still doesn't meant there isn't an 8th out there somewhere.

If a part doesn't fit or needs serious mods to fit then something ain't right. Us old hands normally sya "TVRs don't you just love 'em" and work with the supplier to get things sorted out.

BTW fitted my upgrade on the 520 on Saturday. Took a couple of hours ish with no problems.

I was particularly interested as upgrading the brakes on the 460 is top of my list of "to do's". That and getting the sodding roof repaired!

Did you finally get the new Hi-tec calipers ? I'm still
very impressed by their big brake upgrade I had fitted last year.

Tim - I assume you mean the Billet (sp?) calipers? I beat Steve to it and yes, they are excellent.

Got the biggest ones they do. Still waiting for the engine to come back so have not tried them yet.
