I need some advice, I may be moving to Portugal in the summer and my beloved 1984 Red 350i will have to be sold. And I don’t know what it’s real value is as it cant be compared to a standard 350i, it a bit special. Here’s what has been done to it within the last 12 months……..ENGINE 4.6 litre V8 Developments Special, Cross Bolted Block, Pocketed Pistons, Stage 3 Head with the largest valves possible, Trumpet Base with largest trumpets possible, Plenum largest possible, Polished and Ported inlet manifold, Jaguar Injectors, Jaguar Airflow meter, Rising Rate Fuel Regulator, High Flow Fuel Filter, New Water Pump, Recon Alternator, New Throttle Pot, Performance Air Filter, All fuel and coolant hoses replaced, Twin Rad cooling fans, Custom hand built manifolds and exhaust system, Performance Plugs and leads….STEERING….New Rack, Steering Shaft UJ’s…..FRONT SUSPENSION….All bushes replaced with Urethane, Wheel Bearings, Top and Bottom King Pins, Upgraded Springs, AVO Shocks….REAR SUSPENSION….Urethane bushes, Drive Shaft UJ’s (greasable), Wheel Bearings….BRAKES….All replaced….DRIVE TRAIN….Recon Gearbox, Performance Clutch….CHASSIS….Under sealed….WHEELS and TYRES….Arbet Six Spoke Alloys, Yokahama TyresA510 225x50x16 (Much wider than the original wheels).…Exterior….All paint very good, Boot Spoiler, New Badges....INTERIOR….Seats and consol re leathered, Re carpeted, Hood edge trimmed ( It is virtually water tight ), Satellite Navigation ( Street Pilot ), Remote central locking Alarm…Plus all receipt from 1986 to date. You can bet I’ve forgotten some stuff, but that’s about the bulk of it. So what would be a fair asking price for it?
Hmmm.... tricky, but if it's as good as it sounds I'd say around 7-8k which is 400 territory. I know that you've spent a lot but the 350's looks aren't to everyone's taste and the suspension isn't as sophisticated as the SEs and given the power upgrade, it may overwhelm the chassis. The increased cost of running and difficuly insuring a modified TVR makes the power less desireable too (I've got a 400SE with the same engine upgrade so this, I know!).
Can't you take it with you!

What's different about the 400se suspension then? I thought it was only the SEAC's which had the rose joints? And if his cars post '86 he'll have the A-frame not trailing arm rear setup.
Matt ii is only a case of a 400 SE owner trying to distence himself from a lesser 350i.

There is no difference between an A frame 350 and a 400 except that a 400 might have been rosejointed - custom build and all that.
What is scary is that an 84 has a trailing arm which struggles with the power from a 280i, let alone a 4.6. The fact that the brakes have been replaced and not upgraded is worrying as well.
In the end of the day it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
