I've asked this questions on a Dutch TVR forum first, but after about 2 weeks I've got still no answers. So I post them here:

1) The chairs of my 280 have some damage. I've read that the chairs of Pontiac Fiero fit well. Is this true and are there other alteratives?

2) On what kind of petrol can a 280 run. With lead-substitution or can it, sometimes, run on lead-free petrol?

3) I like to know as what number my car came out of the factory. The chassisno is DH5366F1

4) My 280 has an irritating resonance in a very high tone. I don't hear it, but for my father is it really disturbing. All he told me that it's gone at 4000 rounds/min. Any ideas?

1. The seats (chair is normally used for furniture) are varied. I have also head that a Fiero will fit but as they have been many different versions of the 280i, the only way to find out is to meaure. Most people either replace with a competition seat or get the original repaired. Seats often come up for sale. The Tasmin racers muats have an awful lot of them.

As for unleaded, there is an unleaded FAQ on my website and it is in the bible. The answer is a definite maybe... it depends on when the car was made and if you have the right cylinder heads. Assume for now that you can't run on U/L. The odd tank won't do any damage might cause some pinking.

As for chassis number... this is not easy as the early chassis numbering is not sequential and also there is no guarentee that when the chassis was made at the same time as the rest of the car!

As for the noise: sounds as if there is a problem with the transmsission e.g. a UJ is worn or the wheels need balancing or a mount for the exhaust/gearbox/engine is worn or a wheel bearing...

Chassis number
In the Netherlands you can seriously reduce the costs when you have a "Classic car". The plate number indicates some age but in the past it happend often that an owner wanted to have a "newer" car. So they "lost" the plate number and got a new one.
Now we want like them older, so they reach earier the age of 25 years and then it's a lot cheaper to drive.

It seems to me that the TVR factory build their cars with the parts who where available a that time . My car has some earlier wheels. The bumper is in the same colour as the rest, I've read that's not original but in this case it is!

The sound
I know it sounds not very clear, but my father is not very good in hearing where a sound comes from. That the wheels need to be balanced is quite possible. The last owner hasn't been in a garage in 1.5 year...

Your car, DH5366FI, appears that it falls in the
production sequence somewhere in the middle of
1982. This based on other such cars listed in
the wedge registry from the same time period.
