wedge workshop manuals
Discussion
I've just bought a 390SE which needs a lot of minor jobs done to it. I am looking for a good source of information to enable me to do most of these myself.
Can anyone recommend a publication that would suit my needs, and where I would get it from?
I also do not have a handbook with the car. Would TVR provide one if I asked?

Just read back a little, and got the answer from a previous post, thanks to Steve.
The owner's handbook is available from the TVRCC (www.tvrcc.com) as is the Wedge bible which is the closest
thing to Haynes there is. If you want info now, go to

There is no such thing as a 390SE owners handbook. TVR shipped the current 350i handbook instead. You should be able to get a copy from the TVRCC but beware it is not absolutely accurate. Still worth having though.

Get the Wedge Bible !!
Got my copy for Christmas, and it's a great manual / read.
One question I have related to it though; most other wedges are listed as having 225/50 15" Z as the tyre size, the 420SEAC has 245/45 15" Z.......but on mine I've been putting on 225/50 for the past few years, is this a problem....should I go to the proper size ?

Depends. The difference in rolling radius is minimal. The lower profile and wider 245/45 will have better handling at the expence of a harsher ride/more tramlining but such is life.

Steve ,
Another question regarding wheels for you , which isn't entirely clear in your book .
It says the 390SE runs on 8inch rims . what about a 400SE ? I also have a set of 7J's which will take the 225's ,would it be Ok to put them on the front and leave the 8J's on the back ? What about offset problems ?

7J rims and 225 wide tyres... I don't think so. I know TVR did it as this was the combination that the 390 sprinted on in the standard class. It quickly revealed some problems as the 225 tyre is borderline on a 7 because it is too wide and starts to distort the contact patch so much that it is like driving on a narrow tyre. It also starts to roll off the rim and can cause real nasty handling characteristics. It also wears out the side lettering
In reality you could get away with it but I it is not something I would do. Sure keep them as a spare incase you get a puncture or whack a wheel rim but not for mainstream or even track use.
One of the best things I did was stretch a 225 wide tyre onto an ex Tuscan 9J rim. Really dramatic improvemnt in handling!

We had the problem whereby the tyre came of the wheel - not good when going round a corner at a speed. Promptly replaced them for bridgestones cannot remember the size. If necessary can look in the garage but its raining. If your a member of the TVRCC there are a list of people at the back who may help you with any questions you have on your 390. But if you need to "Borrow" any books we have all there is, sorry yes borrow.
No as the real problem is with 225s on the front. They are not ideal on the back but probably not worth worrying about.
