...I was hovering around you at BBWF hoping to find your owner but no luck.
I thought your red dash looked realy smart and would like to know where to get the dash material from. I've spent a lot of time re-veneering mine to quite a good standard only for it to crack when the warm weather came along. I'd like to try something that will be a bit more durable and that red stuff looked the business.
Does it come in any other colours?
Thanks

Hi Dave, it was my car
, The dash was like that when i bought it last year, i think it was sprayed red then silver flicked over it, i will email the previous owner and see if i can shed some light, there are so many different dash's, glad to see mine was noticed. Many thanks for your and chedders comments..

No need to e-mail, I'm still a regular lurker - miss my old wedge! You've got it spot on anyway - the veneer was simply stripped off the back base plate which was then painted red and treated to silver flecks (this was all done by the previous owner to me). The same was done to the strips on the doors.
p.s. Did you get it rolling roaded then? Never got round to it myself, but interested in results if you did.

Ahem...getting back to the dash for a moment I would never have guessed that it was paint on metal. It looked like it was made from some fancy acrylic sheeting. Nice bit of work that. Only problem for me is that my dash has a plywood base not metal so I guess I will have to keep looking

If you are asking about the speedo.
The MOT history check would probably suggest it has gone around the clock.
MOT in March 2008 at 98,505 miles then September 2009 at 542 miles and so on, last MOT Oct 2012 at 5,152 miles. Circa couple of thousand miles in between per year.

Do you mean C308YYG (the car I used to own?)
Would love to see what it looks like now.
I got it re-sprayed in blue (from the original grey) a few years back. I sold it to someone who took it off the road to sort
the engine. Used to pop and bang nicely on over-run!
A chap called Michael has bought it and is sorting it out. He has posted a couple of photos on one of the FB Wedge forums. Hopefully he won't mind if I re-post. Did you have the new rear roof fitted Dave - it's a tiny rear window compared to standard?Do you mean C308YYG (the car I used to own?)

I didn't do anything to the rear window. It was a pain when reversing!
As for the engine, it seemed to lack power, but there was nothing obviously wrong. Looking
back I wonder whether it needed a new cam. Also, at 100,000 miles it probably needed an
overhaul.
I did a lot of jobs on it in my 7 years of ownership. I had the alloys re-furbed, a re-spray and new
outriggers.
Shame it's been off the road for so long.

Yes a worn camshaft at 100,000 miles would make sense and account for loss of power, plus maybe an injector clean. The cam on my 390Se was worn out at 60,000 miles. There was no evidence whatsoever of a cam lobe for No1 exhaust valve...... They are sturdy engines and a camshaft change is straight forward. If the engine mounts are loosened and the engine jacked up a little you can change the camshaft with engine left in the bay, or certainly you can on my 390.As for the engine, it seemed to lack power, but there was nothing obviously wrong. Hi i bought it from the guys dad , he was going to blueprint the engine , but never got round to it . I was told it had an odd misfire occasionally!!!, its been sat since you sold it , it was under a thick cover , paint still good and clean , im in the process off bring it back to life , all the rear fuel pipes are perished ,. just refitting new today , radiater is also knackered . All fun anyway . How much do camshafts cost to buy , would i get away with fitting a pair, or is it better to take heads off to replace springs as well ?
