To hot-wire or not to hot-wire

Looking to upgrade my Chimaera to a 400SE. What are the advantages of a later hot-wire car, should I consider a pre hot-wire car and how easy is it to upgrade to the later spec? Ex. 350i driver returning to the fold.

Why do you want to change this? I have had both types of engines and providing they are set up correctly, very little difference. The 390 ran a flap meter which I was told was a no no for real power yet I got close to GRiff 500 power out of it! To convert is very expensive: new ECU, plenum, wiring loom etc and very little benefit.

Just go out and find a good one.
